Employee Giving Campaigns
Throughout the year, we ask Verizon employees and retirees to share their time and expertise helping nonprofits and programs that support our key initiatives — education and literacy and domestic violence prevention and recovery. For example:
- Season's Readings is a holiday tradition that calls on employees to collect and donate books for schools, libraries and literacy organizations. Since 2001, we’ve donated more than two million books, in 2007, with the help of more than 700 Verizon Volunteers, we collected 85,000 books.
- Shower for the Shelter Verizon volunteers donated more than $200,000 worth of new and unused clothing, personal care products and household items to domestic violence victims and their children. Verizon Foundation and the National Network to End Domestic Violence Fund sponsored the drive.
