Employees Can Help Relief Efforts for Victims of Midwest Floods

Foundation to Match Employee Donations on a 1:1 Basis

With more than 11 million Midwesterners affected by recent flooding and tornadoes, Verizon is instituting the Verizon Foundation's Disaster Relief Incentive Program (DRIP).

Under this program, the foundation matches employee donations on a 1:1 basis -- up to a maximum of $1,000 per year, per employee to designated nonprofit relief organization(s).

Donations will go to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Second Harvest. Employee contributions will be matched through Friday, July 18.

The flooding in the Midwest is the worst since Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans in 2005. In Iowa alone, 83 of the state's 99 counties have been declared disaster areas.

If you've already donated to one of the organizations named above to help those in the Midwest and have registered it through the Verizon Foundation's Matching Gift Incentive Program (MIP), the Verizon Foundation will automatically re-register your MIP gift as a DRIP gift.

If you have already made a donation to Save the Children to support relief efforts in China and Myanmar, that donation will be part of the $1,000 maximum per year that the foundation will match.

Donations to the American Red Cross may be made via credit card only.

Donations to the Salvation Army and America's Second Harvest may be made via check or credit card. If you send a check, make sure you indicate VZ - Midwest Floods in the memo field of your check.
