Virginia Congressman Rob Wittman (standing right) visited a 6th grade Family and Consumer Science class at Gayle Middle School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on April 8. Standing with Congressman Wittman is Principal Don Upperco who assess some of the work being done on Thinkfinity.org by students in the class.

T. Benton Gayle Middle School hosted Congressman Rob Wittman and Verizon Foundation Public Affairs Director of the Virginia Region, Steve Clementi. They visited five different classrooms that are continuing to use Verizon Thinkfinity resources with students. The classes included a 7th grade geometry lesson, a 7th grade Science lesson on classification of animals, a 6th grade Health lesson dealing with alcohol abuse, a 7th grade economics lesson, and a 6th grade Family and Consumer Science class on nutrition and the food pyramid.

Gayle Middle School houses students in grades 6 through 8 and is one of 8 middle schools in Stafford County. Gayle was chosen to represent all of Virginia as a Thinkfinity Model School.

Teachers at Gayle underwent training to learn how to use the Thinkfinity website and the resources in their classrooms. With the help of their Technology Resource Teacher and Thinkfinity trainer, Dorleita Ballard, teachers have been using Thinkfinity resources to enrich and enhance instruction.
