Verizon Foundation's Thinkfinity.org Wins Leadership Award
The National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI) recently honored Verizon with its Stellar Leadership in Corporate Responsibility Award in recognition of our efforts to educate and develop future leaders with Thinkfinity.org and our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
NELI serves as a leadership development resource for African-American and Latino professionals and college students. "The NELI Award celebrates companies that lead well, and the Verizon Foundation's Thinkfinity.org is an exceptional demonstration of that achievement," said Georgia Clark, NELI founder and president. "The site punctuates Verizon's incredible commitment to education and to developing a pipeline of leaders for many years to come."
Thinkfinity is the Verizon Foundation's award-winning vehicle for delivering powerful education and literacy tools to teachers, librarians, students, parents and nonprofits. The website is designed to improve learning and student achievement in traditional settings and beyond the classroom and focuses on the skills required for success in the 21st century.
Patrick Gaston, Verizon Foundation president, accepted the award at the 16th annual CareerFOCUS Eagle Awards Gala and Leadership Summit in Chicago. Verizon is one of only four companies to receive the award this year. The winners are featured in the November/December issue of CareerFOCUS Magazine.
"We are proud to be recognized by NELI for Thinkfinity.org," said Gaston. "The site offers more than 55,000 free educational resources to everyone who wants to use them. We are partnering with the nation's leading educational organizations to offer Thinkfinity as a resource that promotes learning, literacy and personal success."
At the Leadership Summit, Pedro Correa, Verizon vice president of multilingual consumer and business sales, received the CareerFOCUS Eagle Award. This is the nation's premier leadership achievement honor for African-American and Latino professionals who excel in business and community leadership.
